As a summative assessment for our unit about artistic expression, students were asked to choose a feeling that they wanted to express. They were to express this feeling through an artistic media of their choice. They then presented their work and explained their choices to the class. Three students chose visual art, two students danced, and one student presented a song that she wrote. All of our artists showed creativity and confidence!
We had lots of fun on our visit to the art gallery today! Our guide took us on a tour of some of the collections, followed by an art activity. Afterwards, we got to explore the canadian collections on our own. We were so lucky to get a visit from Philippe-Alexandre Jacques from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He conducted a workshop with us about how to convey emotion and perspective through dance. Thank you to artist, Melanie Dean for opening our eyes to a new kind of art... performance art! We enjoyed participating in some different examples of performance art including "human sculptures". On Friday afternoons, we enjoy getting together with our reading buddies. Little buddies improve their reading while big buddies practice leadership skills. As part of their unit about space, the grade 5 and 6 class invented their own boardgames incorporating the information that they learned in their unit. We were invited to try out the new games. Lucky us! Here are some photos taken during some recent math classes. Grade 2's were working hard to solve puzzles using logical thinking. Grade 1's were learning to use < > = symbols. |
