Our class enjoyed our field trip to Fairfields Heritage House. Looking at the house helped us with our inquiry for our current unit about how the experience of childhood has changed over time. It gave us a clearer picture of what life would have been like for past generations. We also got to "milk a cow" and make real butter!

During this past unit, students inquired about how the experience of childhood has changed, and how it has remained the same across generations. Thank you to the grandparents who visited us to talk about their own experiences of childhood. Students were excited to hear their personal stories. As a part of this unit, we learned some classic games that don't involve technology. We had fun with clapping games, cards, Nine Man Morris, and the box of wooden toys that Mme Katie borrowed from the Nepean Museum. Grade 1 students have been writing letters and notes. They are motivated to communicate through writing. In math class, students learn to solve problems through experimentation and play. |
